Key Highlights
Juventus beat Napoli two goals to nil at the Allianz Stadium, a match decided after the interval by Kerim Alajbegović’s breakthrough and a late finish from Jérémie Boga. Alajbegović’s influence was such that he was named player of the match.
First Half
Juventus lined up in a four four two and invited a mixture of pressure and moments on the break, with Kerim Alajbegović, Randal Kolo Muani and Nick Woltemade leading the attack and Gleison Bremer captaining from the back. Napoli’s four three three saw them enjoy more of the ball in the opening period, but Juventus edged the attacking momentum and tested their opponents with a string of corners and efforts. Alajbegović was a persistent presence in the final third, having several attempts saved or blocked, while Napoli’s best early openings came from Lorenzo Lucca and Giovanni Di Lorenzo headers that caused the hosts some concern. Both sides had spells of control around the middle of the half but neither could convert pressure into a goal, and the half-time score was nil all.
Second Half
After the interval Juventus grew into the game, introducing Federico Gatti and later Edon Zhegrova, and they carried the clearer threat for much of the second period with more possession, many more attempts and all of the second-half shots on target. Zhegrova’s presence paid off when he provided the assist for Alajbegović to open the scoring in the seventieth minute with a left foot finish. Five minutes later Napoli were reduced to ten men when Luca Marianucci was shown a red card, a dismissal that shifted the balance decisively in Juventus’s favour. With the extra space and control Juventus saw out the match and Jérémie Boga put the result beyond doubt in the eighty seventh minute, finishing from Andrea Cambiaso’s pass, and Juventus won two goals to nil.
Closing Thoughts
The win gives Juventus a welcome lift as they sit in ninth place on fourteen points and prepare to travel to Fiorentina on November eighth. Napoli remain in seventh place on the same points total and will return home to regroup ahead of a league meeting with Lazio on the same day. For Juventus the result offers momentum to take on a difficult trip; for Napoli the lesson is stark and immediate, not least because the red card interrupted any chance of recovering at the Allianz Stadium.
