Key Highlights
Frosinone swept aside Lecce in a commanding performance at Stadio Benito Stirpe, winning by five goals to one. What began as controlled dominance became clinical finishing, a result underlined by a man of the match display from Giorgi Kvernadze and a two goal cameo from Daniel Bîrligea off the bench.
First Half
Frosinone started in a four two three one formation and set the tone, edging the attacking momentum before the interval and turning patient build up into clear openings. They held roughly sixty one percent of the ball in the first half and completed about twice as many accurate passes as Lecce, forcing saves and winning set pieces as they probed down the flanks. The breakthrough arrived in the 25th minute when Matteo Cichella converted a right foot finish after a neat assist from Farès Ghedjemis, and just before the break Giacomo Calò sent a penalty beyond the goalkeeper in added time to make the score two goals to nil at the interval. Kvernadze was already prominent in the opening forty five minutes, his movement and shooting testing Lecce’s back line and helping to keep Frosinone on top of the exchanges.
Second Half
Frosinone continued to press after the interval, again edging the attacking momentum even though their clearest spell between the 52nd and the 57th minute produced no goal. The hosts added a decisive third in the 59th minute when Antonio Raimondo finished from the left following a strong pass from Giorgi Kvernadze. The game was effectively put beyond doubt after the 70th minute as Daniel Bîrligea, introduced from the bench in the 70th minute, latched on to a Romano Schmid fast break to make it four nil in the 72nd minute. Lecce salvaged some pride when Joël Monteiro finished a swift move in the 82nd minute with an assist from Olaf Gorter, but Kvernadze set up Bîrligea again from a corner in added time to seal a convincing five goals to one victory for Frosinone.
Closing Thoughts
The scale of the victory strengthens Frosinone’s position in the top third of the table and underlines their attacking potential, with the club climbing to seventh place and now preparing to host Torino on November first. The underlying numbers support the result, with Frosinone producing just over three expected goals to around one and a half for Lecce. For Lecce, consecutive league defeats have left them closer to the lower half and in need of a response when they welcome Genoa next; their solitary goal at Stirpe offered a brief spur but little that alters a worrying recent pattern.
